The son returns to his family to inform them of his impending death. It's a reunion with the family circle, where we tell each other how much we love each other through eternal quarrels. From this visit, which he wanted to be definitive, the son leaves without having said anything.

National and international recognition

Juste la fin du monde, first staged by Joël Jouanneau in 1999, is regularly staged both nationally and internationally, and has been translated into eighteen languages. The play entered the Comédie-Française repertoire in 2007, directed by Michel Raskine (awarded the Molière for best show). It was on the syllabus for the theater option of the baccalauréat in 2008, 2009 and 2010, and entered the syllabus for the agrégation de lettres classiques et modernes in 2012. In 2016, Juste la fin du monde was adapted for film by Xavier Dolan, who won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2020, the play was added to the list of works included in the French première program for the anticipated tests of the baccalauréat general and technological sections.
