Einfach das Ende der Welt

Ajouter à mes favoris

He left without saying goodbye. It's now been twelve years since Louis turned his back on his family and the bourgeois provincial milieu in which he grew up. Since then, it's been silence, with the exception of "elliptical" postcards and the briefest of letters sent from the four corners of the world: "I'm well, I hope you are too". Meanwhile, Louis has established himself as a successful writer in the big city and has moved further and further away from his roots, and not just in terms of space. But today, he's back.

How do members of a family who haven't spoken in a long time behave when they're reunited? What expectations do they have of each other, and what image of each other do they have in mind, which the others have yet to align themselves with? After the joy of seeing each other again, after a harmless conversation, old wounds are quickly reopened and the family becomes entangled in conflicts and unspoken words. Louis' world is not the only one that has continued to turn during these twelve years of silence. His youngest sister, still a child when he left, has grown up. His younger brother, now married with children, has tried to fill the void left by Louis. Life moved on for everyone: "You don't know me anymore, you haven't known me for a long time. You don't know who I am, you never did."
