It's only the end of the world
It's Only the End of the World tells the story of a young man who, after being away from his family for a long time, returns home one Sunday to tell his loved ones that he is ill and will soon die.
The play combines unique poetic and humorous language with a strangely disjointed dramatic structure. It's Only the End of the World, seductive in form, becomes haunting when placed in the context of Lagarce's death from HIV/AIDS on September 30, 1995.
Funny, insightful, touching and, above all, deeply benevolent towards the imperfections of the family he was about to leave.
