Juste la fin du monde

The family unit is a theater in itself, where everyone is given a role. Under Lagarce's pen, the clan goes haywire, shooting at each other with red bullets, re-enacting the tragic ballet of ancient dramas with a very contemporary creative fantasy. We witness the return home of a son who has come to announce his impending death to a family he has disowned: a mother left behind, a daughter-in-law as arbiter of the crisis, a younger daughter fantasizing about a glorious, savior elder, a resentful youngest taking on the heavy male and paternal guardianship in spite of himself... Each will play his part in this "chronicle of a death foretold", that of the son, but also that of the filial bond.
