Tiago Rodrigues
Tiago Rodrigues was born in Amadora, Portugal, in 1977. He is an actor, director, playwright, producer and currently Director of the Avignon Festival.
Since his early days as an actor, some twenty-five years ago, Tiago Rodrigues has always envisaged the theater as a human assembly: a place where people meet, as in a café, to confront their ideas and share their time.
He also teaches theater at several schools, including the PARTS contemporary dance school in Brussels, directed by choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker; La Manufacture - Haute école des arts de la scène in Lausanne; and the international project L'École des Maîtres. He also teaches at Portuguese institutions such as the University of Évora, ESMAE, Balleteatro and the Escola Superior de Dança de Lisboa. He directs research, training and experimental projects. Alongside his theatrical work, he writes screenplays for films and TV series, articles, poetry and essays.
