Ultimos Remorsos antes do esquecimento
Jean-Luc Lagarce's text imposes rigor and simplicity in its representation. The staging of Últimos Remorsos Antes do Esquecimento (Last Remorse Before Oblivion) by the Os dezequilibrados company continues a line of research by the group.
At first glance, the text seems to belong to the realist school, but a closer look reveals a partially fragmented, strange writing style, full of silences and suspensions, which, to a certain extent, makes it difficult for the audience to empathize with the dramatic situation and sets it apart from traditional drama. The choice of staging the Portuguese translation (by Alexandra Moreira da Silva) on a Brazilian stage is explained by the desire to highlight the cracks in the realist model caused by its complex dramaturgical construction. In this way, the Brazilian accent for the Portuguese word is configured as a style of language that reinforces not only the strangeness and fragmentation of the text, but also the theatrical play established by scenographic simplicity.
