La Folle journée ou Le Mariage de Figaro

Ajouter à mes favoris

In 1784, Suzanne, a chambermaid, is about to marry Intendant Figaro, but her master, Count Almaviva, demands to deflower the bride-to-be. To thwart the aristocrat's plans, unexpected alliances are formed... As the Revolution looms, the Count clings to his last powers, and behind the domestic revolution lies the abolition of privilege. In this vaudeville where desire is the driving force, Lucile Lacaze pursues the study of class and gender violence already at the heart of her previous stagings of Shakespeare or Zola (Nana). Rather than showing absolute respect for the text, she strips it of its bon mots, making the words as concrete as possible and revitalizing this classic play. In the service of a story tightly centered around six characters in a pared-down set with backstage views, she reunites with the team from La Grande Panique, the company she co-founded in 2021. Together, they have turned this into a highly contemporary material, addressing the audience directly. Gone is the fourth wall!
