In April 1998, Frédéric went to Japan with a set designer, a lighting designer and two actors, who are his most loyal theater companions, to prepare Nous, les héros by Jean-Luc Lagarce, translated into Japanese for the occasion, with Oriza Hirata and Japanese actors.

The two French actors intervened in French during the show to say Jean-Luc Lagarce's text or scenes or fragments from the French theatrical repertoire, so that the audience could hear the language.

It was an experiment in finding ways for people from different linguistic backgrounds to work together. Frédéric and Oriza talked about the fact that they wanted to succeed in producing a new language of theater, a play that was neither Japanese nor French.
