As part of their training, students in the Directing, Playwriting, and Dramaturgy program at the École du Nord are presenting their own productions this season in the form of rough drafts. In 1972, Mamadou Saïdou Diallo disappeared in Guinea while attempting to rejoin his family in France. For more than twenty years, his wife, Suzanne, has been trying to understand what became of him, living in that liminal space where one no longer knows whether one is waiting for a return or postponing the grieving process. Her story echoes that of thousands of other missing persons. In her quest for answers, Suzanne sees memories of the past resurface, intertwining with the present: the euphoria of Guinean independence, the mass arrests, the political prisons...

In a grand political cabaret-style performance, music, dance, funeral rites, celebrations, archival footage, and personal testimonies intertwine to weave a narrative centered on one question:

What remains of a country when the dead are still waiting for their names to be restored?
