Rouge, noir et ignorant
As part of their training, students in the Directing, Playwriting, and Dramaturgy program at the École du Nord are presenting their own productions this season in the form of rough drafts. The Théâtre du Nord invites you to discover the first performances by the artists who will shape the theater of tomorrow.
A major work of contemporary theater, Edward Bond’s War Plays plunges us into a world devastated by atomic destruction. In Rouge noir ignorant, the first installment, the author gives voice to a being not yet born, who has come to recount the violence of the humans who came before him.
Mathilde Ngasi chooses to confront this violence head-on. On stage, she makes it visible and tangible to prevent any form of desensitization. The theater becomes a space of vigilance, where actors and audience members navigate extreme situations that challenge our capacity to resist.
Amid the chaos of today’s world, this production seeks the conditions for a sensitive form of resistance and a potential poetic impulse.
