Les Bonnes
In this new staging of Les Bonnes, Mathieu Touzé plunges the audience into an intense huis clos where two sisters, Claire and Solange, servants to Madame, escape their oppressive daily lives by engaging in nocturnal role-playing. If you watch them closely, you soon realize that the role-playing they engage in enables them to fulfill their unfulfilled urge to kill Madame. The bold choice to entrust the role of Madame to Yuming Hey, an actor endowed with a magnetic presence, adds an extra dimension to this interpretation and underscores the relevance of Genet's themes of social domination, the quest for identity and the power of the imaginary as a means of resistance.
