This unique project, conceived for fourteen young actors, Christophe Rauck chose to entrust its adaptation to two young authors from the École du Nord. Under the watchful eye of Christophe Pellet and with the complicity of François Berreur, they created a montage integrating Pays lointain with excerpts from three other texts by Jean-Luc Lagarce: J'étais dans ma maison et j'attendais que la pluie vienne, Nous les héros, Journal 1 et 2. Writing, narration and acting offer the audience an idea of the collective and even of theater itself: an interdependent, teeming whole. In Le Pays lointain (Un Arrangement), Lagarce recounts stories of lives in the present, consumed by nostalgia for a bygone past. His writing is one of urgency and doubt, just like the young artists in their final year who have gathered on stage for the last time. The distant country, the past behind them that brought them together during three years of school and provided them with the tools for the future.
