L’arbre à sang

Add to my favorites

The story takes place on an isolated farm in Australia, but it could be in the Vosges or Nevada. Three women, a mother and her two daughters, have just ended their ordeal by killing the father of the family. Confronted with the problem of this cumbersome body that must be disposed of, they will experience satisfaction, exhilaration, then flabbergasting, guilt, fear and finally liberation. L'Arbre à sang, written by Angus Cerini, is inspired by the Australian grotesque noir, a literary and theatrical current found in works such as Wake in Fright, Mad Max and the music of Nick Cave. The author seeks to denounce society's inaction in the face of violence against women by staging an act of revolt. In an immersive, minimalist approach that brings the audience and the actresses closer together, the aesthetic is uncluttered, emphasizing the intensity of the performance and the power of the text. An uppercut show, combining macabre and comical.
