La Lettre
Based on the family histories of young artists, Milo Rau explores the events that derail the course of a life and signs a show-manifesto of what popular theater can be today.
Playing with the idea that a young artist defines himself as much through his roles as through his family history, Milo Rau explores, in this stage study, the events that imperceptibly derail the course of our lives: generational conflicts, political history, love and death. Light and humorous, seeking to create a community to create theater, LA LETTRE is intended as a manifesto for what popular theater can be today. From the story of Joan of Arc to Chekhov's La Mouette , the performance develops on several levels, in constant back-and-forth between art and life. The dead themselves return to the stage via recorded voices.
