The broken chorus of women

Five women. Three sisters, the mother and "the oldest". Waiting. The return of the brother, the son. He, at least, is gone, even if it was the father who drove him away. There's no horizon here. The five women's wait gives rise to every hypothesis, every possibility, about what has preceded and what will follow the return. Old pains resurface, violence and memories, while the world around them seems in suspension. In this piece, which has been described as a "quintet for female voices", Jean-Luc Lagarce once again explores the themes that are dear to him: family, melancholy, the difficulties of communicating. With characteristic acuity, director Elidan Arzoni clearly exposes the issues at stake.

One of the great texts by the author of "Juste la fin du monde", served up by a brilliant multi-generational cast.
