Antoine m'a vendu son destin

Add to my favorites

"I would like to sink into each word the pain of these men living under the clutches of a century that botches these hopes and maintains with the future relations of panic." This sentence by Sony Labou Tansi, which opens the preface to Antoine m'a vendu son destin, has always inspired me to deliver this thing to audiences as a thirst for inventing hope. But to invent it with clenched teeth, plunging courageously into the abyss. Mise en abyme has always imposed itself on me as the ultimate way of interrogating fiction through experience, fable through reality, theater through experience.
Three texts make up this triangle-like form: Antoine chez les chiens, a post-mortem response to this character with his dazzling highs and boisterous lows; Antoine m'a vendu son destin, the main root of this project - the heart of the beast in all its political hegemony; and Sony chez les chiens, which questions the writer's role in the face of history. While the first text makes a direct address to Antoine, the other two interweave and respond to each other in a kind of parallel dialogue, between the work and its author, who died twenty-one years ago.
