Phasmes

A mysterious entity confronts us. Borrowing from the animal, the mineral and the vegetable, this chimera will mutate, unfold and interact with its environment. Gradually, a duo takes shape, capable of giving birth to a series of abstract, evocative apparitions, like phasms with neither tail nor head, crawling or galloping. Then, each slowly tames his autonomy, and reaffirms his human singularity.

Sensual and spirited, Phasmes invents an acrobatic language from malleable bodies that can be metamorphosed at will. With no props or apparatus, the two dancers fully inhabit the space. On the floor, a pile of dead leaves forms the only minimalist, evolving set.

Airborne dancer and acrobat, Fanny Soriano created the Libertivore company in 2005, with musician and performer Jules Beckman. With Phasmes, she probes the place of the human being in his living space, both natural and supernatural.
