Nuit, un mur, deux hommes suivi de Deux tibias

Add to my favorites

I met Daniel Keene over twenty years ago, when I was directing Low at the Théâtre de Poche in Brussels. Thanks to Séverine Magois' luminous translation, I discovered an author of rare humanity, with whom I've been lucky enough to form a true friendship.

His universe bears the traces of Beckett, Shakespeare, Pinter, Kroetz or Koltès. With chiseled, powerful language, Keene takes us as close as possible to the human, composes requiems for the end of an era, and conjures up tender humor on the edge of tragedy.

In Deux tibias and Nuit, un mur, deux hommes, it's a question of dignity, courage, the poetry of everyday life and hope. A diptych in which men on the edge of the world try to remain human. Stripped-down, intense theater, where every word counts.
