à l'ombre d'un vaste détail, hors tempête
In the shadow of gestures and things that happen without our noticing, a sudden attention unfolds. What if the most intimate daily routine were the space, if not the place, that connects us to the invisible?
To begin with, we need to imagine a very simple, very ordinary image. Almost a scene from everyday life. Perhaps someone cleaning a surface. A person, however, entirely required by what he's doing. Her movements are extremely suspended, concentrated, diligent. Like a choreographic proposition in which the action is accomplished for its own sake. Like the trembling of a fiction that slips away. In the wake of his previous creations, Christian Rizzo opens the stage to the powers of abstraction, without removing it from the spectrum(s) of theater. But here, it's in the beat and interstice of these two dimensions that the reality of dance can appear. Thanks to a system of veiling and unveiling, constant editing and reframing, the space acquires its own mobility, becoming a character in its own right. Parallel to a highly organic dance, situations appear and disappear according to the trajectories of three curtains. A group of dancers forms, splits and recomposes itself under the gaze of a labile structure. In this way, repetition escapes multiplication: in the filigree of absences and gaps, a space conducive to appeasement takes shape. A detail, a joy, a search for solitude and serenity.
