Line
Inspired by the worlds of Kandinsky and Calder, the story of Line—a little cotton character in search of connections and new horizons—unfolds before the audience’s eyes through the manipulation of materials and magnets, much to the delight of the youngest viewers.
“White sounds like silence, a nothingness before any beginning.” This reflection by Kandinsky could mark the starting point of this visual and sculptural work. On a white canvas, first a dot, then a line, a curve, and finally a character appears. Meet Line, a cotton figure with sparkling, curious eyes. The only living being at the heart of an abstract composition, she is bored and desperately searching for a friend to play with. In her quest, she will be led to step beyond the boundaries imposed by her frame, sometimes getting lost along the way, going through every mood imaginable, but determined to achieve her goal. After exploring the myriad facets of the tangram in its previous show, *Karl*, the Betty BoiBrut’ company continues its artistic exploration with this production in which cotton threads come to life.
