L'Apprentissage
A discreet entry into the world of the writer: an inner life, a withdrawal into oneself, a reassuring cocoon, a strange relationship with the outside world; all told in simple but rich language, with humor, with incessant repetitions, witnesses to the recurring images that haunt the patient's mind....
A story performed by a single actor, this apprenticeship, this return to the world, with its doubts and apprehensions, always takes us back to childhood.
Images of the hospital: sensations, smells, visits to loved ones, difficulties communicating with the sick, the banality of what is said, words that are too articulate, the silence that settles in. Space: a restricted area in which the patient takes refuge. This space, beyond which we dare not venture, is the bed: a big bed, a cocoon, a house-bed, a bed like a child's hut in which we take refuge to play, to pass our sorrows, to hope, to wait... a bed where we can hide, snuggle up under the sheet. We curl up in it when we no longer have the strength to move
