Histoire d'amour (derniers chapitres)

Add to my favorites

The writing of the play d'Histoire d'Amour is mysterious. There is no chronology. The characters are afraid to reveal themselves, to affirm something, to simply say their love.
The originality of Histoire d'Amour comes from the fact that we never know where we stand in time. It's constantly changing, without ever having to be precise. We can, however, define four of them:
the time of action, the time of memory, the time of the 1st man's writing, the time of the reading of the play Histoire d'Amour written by the 1st man.
Hence the need to create a space-time that would encompass these four times. This is made possible by the prologue, which I decided to perform in an atmosphere somewhere between a dream and a nightmare.
So I create a disturbance, I remove all reference points from the spectator, so that to follow this story, he is obliged to engage with his own love stories and thus create his own time.

Lagarce gives us only a few fragments of this story to leave all tracks open. It's a real puzzle. The spectator must conduct his own investigation and reconstruct a story with all the pieces at his disposal.
