Fake

Add to my favorites

Two best friends from high school talk to each other dozens of times a day, online, on the phone, inviting each other to their homes. One dreams of boys, the other doesn't. The first falls in love with an English musician with whom she communicates on social networks*, while the second gives her advice. They confide in each other, soliloquize, trapping each other in their own feelings, aspirations and troubles.

*In the course of the play, we learn that the English musician exists only...virtually, since he's nothing more than an invention of the best friend who's pretending to be him.

With Fake it's about the troubles of adolescence: love troubles, identity troubles, the quest for truth, meaning and absolutes drowned in social networks; loneliness and perdition, betrayal too, in a society where all landmarks are crumbling.
