Boule à neige

Add to my favorites

Ridiculous, dusty, ugly, kitschy? The snow globe is a miniature theater that fits in your hand and is brimming with stories. In a performance as funny as it is erudite, Patrick Boucheron and Mohamed El Khatib make these little globes neglected by history speak for themselves, and invite us to ask much bigger questions.

In a kind of cabaret of curiosities, inspired by the anatomical theaters of the Renaissance, the historian and director examine these miniature worlds held under cloche before the spectators' eyes. Questioning good and bad taste, the noble and the repressed, they gradually turn the tables on the infinitely small and the disproportionately large, drawing out the metaphor for us. Through these small plastic and poetic objects, profane or sacred, and their collectors, it's also a question of being shaken up in our turn, by talking about popular passions and culture.
