Après moi, le déluge

Add to my favorites

Après moi, le déluge is born in a moment of upheaval, a fragile time when the world loses its footing. Under the weight of crises and collective exhaustion, bodies fall, melt away, and crumble even before the performance begins.
Moving backward through time, the dance attempts to retrace its steps to a time before the catastrophe, before the wear and tear. But this machine can only be stopped at the cost of a radical act: destroying the floor, tearing open the stage, creating an abyss. From this underbelly emerge monstrous, composite figures—products of our collective narratives, our silences, and our renunciations.
In a liminal, subterranean space, the world’s grand structures are reenacted: power, legacy, domination—but also the possibility of transformation. The scenes unfold in succession like micro-rituals where care can heal as much as it can constrain, where gentleness sometimes slips into control, and where gestures of attention become laden with control.
Following Room with a View and Age of Content, this new work builds upon an exploration already underway: that of dance as a means of subverting imposed narratives. *Après moi, le déluge* is a collective introspection, a dive beneath the surface of everyday gestures and power structures, questioning our relationship to care, the gaze, legacy, and transformation.
