Scènes de la vie conjugale
The everyday dialogues of an almost perfect couple. The ordinary of an ideal married life before the storm. Then the quiet life turns to boredom, the platitude turns to drama. The festering wound of the breakup, the quickly dashed hopes of a new life, guilt and violence give Johan and Marianne the most difficult time of their lives. It's only much later, at the end of a tumultuous journey, that they'll be able to admit their own truth to themselves.
"It took me three months to write this work, but it took me quite a long time of my life to live it. I'm not sure it would have been better if the opposite had happened, although it would have been more elegant. I felt a kind of affection for these people while I was interested in them. They were sometimes quite adult. They talk a lot of nonsense, and sometimes some reasonable things. They are anxious, cheerful, selfish, silly, kind, wise, unselfish, affectionate, passionate, tender, sentimental, insufferable, lovable. All in a single blend. Now let's see what happens."
