In “N. Sarkozy’s Stand-Up,” the former president takes the stage at a comedy club and recounts the key moments of his five-year term (the pressure washer incident, the identity-based campaign, the economic crisis, and his meeting with Carla Bruni). As he tries desperately to stay on stage, he is chased off by the audience. Then “F. Hollande’s Clown” enters. Freshly elected, he has a strong desire to improve people’s lives, but he always fails. And then there’s Leïla Merabet, who tells the epic, intimate, and comical story of her impossible quest for true love. With Leïla, Nicolas, and François, *SarkHollande* paints a portrait of France from 2007 to 2017 and its political and identity-related upheavals.
