Quand la neige tombe

Four solitary characters orchestrate a rather sordid event: a funeral urn, containing the ashes of a father, left for a while on the sidewalk by the family, disappears. The thief, thinking he had stolen a valuable vase, disposes of it by throwing it into a garbage dumpster. A maintenance worker from the collection company, tasked with disposing of it, thinks he's doing the right thing by scattering the ashes from the top of his building, to offer the deceased a "dignified end". The distraught family searches for the urn and posts flyers. In the end, the thief and the maintenance man both hand over "fake" ashes, which are mixed together and scattered, as planned, in a vast snow-covered field, the horizon of all possibilities, of renewal and continuity. This unexpected journey brings to the surface family conflicts, attachments, silent pain and the atavism that shapes us. These tiny lives are tossed about by small daily failures, always on the run without really knowing where or why. "Are we anything other than ashes?" one of them wonders - but they intend from now on, to stand tall, to take the risk of existing.
