Oiseau [Guide de survie]

We've always watched it from the corner of our eyes. We whisper about it. They say he's strange or abnormal. They say he talks with birds. At home, mother and father argue. Words escape and rustle. The child they call Oiseau pretends to sleep. He's absent. Sometimes he wants to disappear. Then suddenly, one winter's day, he's gone. The police investigate. Parents look for him. Dogs try to sniff out his trail. And they all realize they don't know. That they don't know him. That we don't take the time to take a good look at birds.
