Oiseau [Guide de survie]

Add to my favorites

On stage, Élise Vigier brings together theater, music, and visuals to adapt this text by Quebec author Marie-Christne Lê-Huu, in which we meet the boy everyone calls Oiseau—a child who is different, yet whom no one notices until the day he disappears.

Oiseau [Survival Guide] is a text composed of fragments that explores the question of difference in relation to the norm. For Oiseau’s difference causes others to lose their bearings—both collectively and individually—and disrupts their comfort and their orderly understanding of the world. And when he suddenly disappears one winter day, everyone sets out to find him, and they all realize they don’t know him. And that he is missing. In this production, the story will also be told through movement, drawings, music, and sound, and each performer on stage will take turns embodying the role of this child, this “Oiseau,” whom we all may carry within us at different moments in our lives.
