Notre histoire (se répète)

Notre histoire (se répète) tells the story of Jana and Stéphane's attempt - a German woman and a Sephardic Jew - to re-enact the show Notre histoire, created in 2020. It was a show about their meeting in love and the pitfalls of their life as a mixed couple, which was torn apart by the upheavals of the 20th century, particularly those of the Holocaust. Today, geopolitical events, the rise of anti-Semitism and post-truth have swept away their bearings.

This play is a plunge into the vertigo of our collective memories and our attempts at reparation. It's a love farce about how current events impact a couple's intimacy and change our relationship to history.

Jana Klein and Stéphane Schoukroun explore the effects of misinformation, dogmatism and selective memory, those forms of blindness (voluntary or suffered) that run through our societies as much as our loves.
