Nkenguégi

The waves sweep the boat' a poor makeshift raft. I see the fragility of life' of all these crouched, sickly lives' crammed like beasts onto the boat. But where are they going? No one knows but chance. What is this obsession that makes them brave the seas' the waves' the storms and death? Nkenguégi are equatorial plants with long, sharp leaves. In the Congo' they are used to protect enclosures from wild animals. Whoever stays inside the enclosure is protected' but locked in. Those outside the enclosure are in danger, but free.
