Nkenguégi
The last part of a trilogy initiated with Le Socle des vertiges, continued with Shéda, Nkenguegi is part of the journey of a writer who believes that "art is escaping barbarism". Dieudonné Niangouna's lively, delirious, poetic and abrupt language inscribes the real into the imaginary, and unfurls like a flood carrying as much emotion as anger. He doesn't seek to move or convince, or to find the middle ground or a soft consensus. He attacks, he bites, he disturbs, he dots the i's and crosses the t's. He shakes up the French language, rebuilding it sharper, more aggressive, reinventing it to make it capable of conveying the deep pain of all those who suffer the violence of a world turned upside down. This is not inconsistent chatter that assembles sweeping judgments, but rather a compellingly necessary message that does not shy away from contradictions, hesitations, humor and derision, taking us forcefully on a deeply moving journey. It's a crossing that thousands of women, men and children undertake day after day in the all-too-often deadly waters of the Mediterranean, but it's also a crossing that human beings make throughout their lives, a crossing of the dreams and nightmares that ignite our spirits. Ten actors and three musicians will inhabit the teeming world of Dieudonné Niangouna, taking us to the most diverse places, moving from one continent to another.
