L'inhabitante
Lyon, Cité SNCF, 1986. Jules leaves the family home, hitchhiking. Thus begins a life of wandering, during which she stumbles upon the former Rambaud harbour master’s office, now a neighbourhood where sex workers, squatters and vagrants… before being catapulted, much later, into the brand-new Confluence district in the 2000s.
In this journey through time and the city, three generations come together within a space undergoing transformation, marked by gentrification. The text explores territory, memory, real or symbolic kinship, and female wandering. Can a story be built from nothing? What remains of memory when we have sought to erase it? What is passed down to us as a legacy by previous generations? And what does it mean to find one’s place as a woman?
