Iphigénie à Splott

Effie lives in Splott, a neighbourhood in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, which has been affected by deindustrialisation, unemployment and increasing poverty. Effie is the sort of girl you avoid making eye contact with when you pass her in the street, the sort you feel free to judge without even realising it. You think you know Effie, but you don’t know half of it. Every Monday, she plunges into a spiral of alcohol, drugs and drama, and emerges three days later from a hangover worse than death, only to start all over again. Then, one evening, she’s offered the chance to be more than that.
