Wayqeycuna
In the Quechua language, wayqeycuna-literally "my brothers to me"- designates both blood ties and the community in northern Argentina from which Tiziano Cruz hails. Wayqeycuna is the third part of an autobiographical trilogy begun at the death of his sister, each part of which is conceived as a song. After sadness and rage comes a time of reconciliation and abandonment: abandoning European culture and the Spanish language to reconnect with his native roots. This rediscovery of himself involves ancestral rituals that the artist shares with local communities... To the cycle begun with Adiós Matepac and Soliloquio, Wayqeycuna brings a form of conclusion. A form only because, like mourning, Tiziano Cruz's singing never really ends. It continues to work in us long after it's over.
