Viaggio a Hong Kong

Add to my favorites

French director Pascal Rambert has written a monologue for Sandro Lombardi about love, absence and loneliness at the end of a life spent together. Following its success in France and Mexico, Journey to Hong Kong is coming to Italy in a new version.
The playwright – who, with this project, is rekindling his long-standing connection with the ERT – has shaped the work around the actor, highlighting his talent and the depth of his stage presence. At the heart of the story is an elderly writer, confined to a room on the thirtieth floor of a hotel in Hong Kong. He has just received an award, but following the loss of his partner, he decides to put his affairs in order and slip away quietly. All around him remain objects, memories, joys, sorrows and fragments of a life marked by love. In the bed, in the daily routines, in the rooms and in the objects, traces of the other person remain, even when they are no longer there. Lombardi gives form and voice to this absence with rare precision, transforming grief into an intimate, lucid and profoundly human portrait.
