When puppets take on Henrik Ibsen's most illustrious work, under the watchful eye of Norwegian artist Yngvild Aspeli, who also plays the title role, the result is a stunning show. The exacerbated psychology of the characters is expressed with absolute mastery.

Yngvild Aspeli, artistic director of the Plexus Polaire company, leads an impressive work of puppet creation at the frontiers of several disciplines. With A Doll's House, she offers a very personal reading of the great classic of Norwegian literature, and puts her intelligence of the art of puppetry at the service of the ruthless dramaturgical mechanics invented by her compatriot Henrik Ibsen in 1879. The play becomes a troubling encounter between illusion and reality, in which human-sized puppets become metaphors for a society of pretense. Summoning dance, voices and harmonies, Yngvild Aspeli offers a show that haunts, delights and releases old specters.
