Reglas, usos y costumbres en la sociedad moderna
"Normes, usages et coutumes dans la société moderne" is set in a French literary salon, where the character of a lady inspired by Baroness Blanche Staffe leads a meeting on correct behavior in society.
"As a kind of missionary of tradition, she precisely spells out the various rules to be observed in the organization of the main ceremonies that mark life: christening, engagement, wedding, silver wedding, golden wedding and funeral," the same sources point out.
Moreover, obsessed with "exhaustive" respect for the official aesthetic in all its variants, "she lets her personal comments shine through, bitter or poetic, as if she wanted to appropriate the game of life, to control it, to recognize herself in the mirror of it".
The staging tells, "deep down", of the failure of organized life, of foresight, of the construction of happiness through appearances "and what we see is the fear of the unforeseen, of imprecision and disorder."
