Préparatifs d'une noce à la campagne

Today they're here, all of them, together again... family and troupe, father and mother, children and distant relatives.... They'll play all sorts of games, tell stories and live their lives... funny little skits and songs that are said at the end of the table, at the end of meals... shows that sometimes resemble family reunions... "How was it, say, how was the last time?" And they're all going to fight, defend themselves, survive and prove: let's keep them, let's let them finish!... "One more story, fifteen minutes, then we'll take a five-minute break! Small dramas, secondary characters, youngest daughter and main roles, small numbers behind the scenes, "on the side", men's and women's lives, stories of love and profession...
The day after tomorrow, they'll do better, another wedding... "Will there be war?..." A prettier countryside, a trip to America... "I should have left in 1912! We'll be film actors in Hollywood, or back at the Kristall-Palast in Leipzig... life there was grandiose... In Warsaw, in Doctor Von Hartungen's nursing home, in Switzerland or wading through the Austro-Hungarian trenches, the famous country wedding the following summer...
"How does it feel?" ... Today, they're here, all of them, together again...
