Phantasia
In a playful, luminous, and heartwarming one-man show that makes use of theatrical devices, Jean Le Peltier invites us to embrace our uncertainties and honestly acknowledge our ignorance. Far from overwhelming us, this is an opportunity to transform our vulnerabilities into a joyful strength.
It all begins with a sense of vertigo: the kind that grips us after a tragedy—such as the suicide of a loved one—when we can’t help but think that a different word or gesture might have changed the course of events. Through this lens, *Phantasia*, created at Le Quai, explores our attempts to counter fate with small, personal beliefs—ones that allow us to still hope we can alter destiny or turn back time. Using the pretext of a story about a 200-year journey through time—where humans seem more attuned to the feeling of uncertainty than we are—Jean Le Peltier blends popular science, improbable tales, and personal allusions. On a stage where objects come to life and the light grows dim, he invites us to truly come to terms with our own limitations by revealing gentle possibilities—from which we emerge invigorated, enriched, and smiling.
