Opening Night

Add to my favorites

Opening Night is DE HOE's first major show, written by all the auteur∙rices and performed by all the actor∙rices from the three generations combined. Influenced by the exceptional cinematic work of John Cassavetes and the interpretations of Gena Rowlands, DE HOE plays with excess, but also with love and vulnerability. Opening Night is a collective quest for a new emotionality in an emotion-saturated society. The company plays with life and death, flirting with sentimentality.
Night after night, Opening Night presents itself as a show called into question. While desperately trying to fill the void left by an actor losing his words, seven comédien∙nes embark together on a feverish, tragicomic search for the greatest possible authenticity.
