Nous, les héros

Add to my favorites

A slightly dented theater troupe.

After a theatrical performance by a lousy troupe, in a lousy theater, somewhere in Europe, the actors talk among themselves about their condition as actors, their conflicts, their future that doesn't exist, their lack of ideals with desperate cruelty. In this atmosphere of Kafkaesque pessimism and defeatism, a party is in the offing - the engagement of the bosses' eldest daughter to the young leading man - but no one is happy, no one can pretend, no one can act. Nor, for once, to give up this life without desire, even if it means leaving. But saying goodbye only means staying. The play expresses powerlessness at every level, and in particular that of communication between characters who have difficulty expressing themselves, a handicap that can be extrapolated to society as a whole.
