Les Personnages de la pensée

Over the course of 22 tableaux, the voices are multiple, intersecting and unfolding in space. On the stage, everything is rhythm, starting with life itself: pulsation, beating. Valère Novarina imagines his Personnages de la pensée with a furious taste for comedy. Devoid of proper names, they are reduced to what they do, more or less abstractly. Among them are Jean Mangetout, Le Déséquilibriste, L'Infini Romancier, Le Vivant Malgré Lui, L'Acteur Fuyant Autrui... and so many others.

Since language is everywhere, in all its forms, it is also everywhere in Valère Novarina's paintings projected on stage, which in turn express all the fantasy, insolence and madness of this great artist. "I have great respect for reality, but I've never believed in it," he said in his latest work, La Clef des langues, published by P.O.L in 2023.
