Les Perses
Each year, the Festival d'Avignon invites Gwenaël Morin to create a show as part of the Démonter les remparts pour finir le pont project. As the joyfully provocative title suggests, the idea is to find in what stands in the way the possibility of building together. In previous editions, the director has met local performers who, in his own words, have come to help him make theater. With them, he sets out once again to tackle one of the emblematic works in the repertoire to which his instinctive relationship with the text leads him. Confronting ancient works - sometimes several millennia old - Gwenaël Morin's theater refuses to abolish their fundamental strangeness, considering that the distance that separates us from them is also the prerequisite for dialogue.
