Les Historiennes
Three women with emblematic destinies re-emerge from the past thanks to three contemporary historians who resurrect them in three eloquent, incisive narratives, which actress Jeanne Balibar seizes solo for a singular, captivating moment of great complicity.
Time has not yet erased the memory of the slave Páscoa, dragged before the court of the Inquisition in 1700 for bigamy; of the parricide Violette Nozière, victim of incest but sentenced to death in 1934 before being pardoned and then rehabilitated in 1963; of the incomparable actress Delphine Seyrig, muse of Marguerite Duras, activist engaged in the feminist struggle of the 1970s.. Three women deeply embedded in the history of their times, three unique destinies revealed on the stage of the theater, which, like historical studies, can bring these figures to life by bringing them close to us. Jeanne Balibar transforms these historical essays into pure literature, appropriating the words to turn them into material for play, in order to recount on stage these three life stories that speak to us of struggle and freedom.
