The poetic sweetness of a cruel tale: the fatal fate of an Amazon, in the chiaroscuro of a living painting.

Gaëlle Bourges is unrivalled when it comes to making us (re)discover, always in a surprising light, art-historical references. This time, she takes us back to the 15th century, based on a wedding chest that caught her eye at the Musée des Beaux-arts in Tours. The beautiful object illustrates the story of Camille, a warrior whose fate is recounted in Virgil's Aeneid and, in the 14th century, by Boccaccio. The Amazon dies in battle, and the poet warns women not to pick fights! Gaëlle Bourges, however, does not intend to follow moralistic paths, and rereads Camille's story as a metaphor for feminist struggles of all eras. Remarkable poets of gesture, the eight puppeteer performers invite us to take a journey through history and time, with as much humor as a sense of drama.
