Jour de fête

Today, our future is so uncertain that our ability to dream seems to have vanished.
So, let’s celebrate the future by celebrating ourselves!
I run a theater that no longer has a theater. So we’re taking our theater wherever we can—especially to community halls.
The idea for *Jour de fête* stems from the desire to work in one of these halls and to make it the central dramatic element, without diverting it from its primary function: coming together to celebrate and perform.
Jour de fête weaves together several stories and characters at this particular moment in their lives. They will reveal themselves, dare to put into words their hopes for the future and what they aspire to become before embarking on their new lives.
It’s an opportunity to celebrate and share that moment.
To forge a new identity, one needs trust and stability in the society in which one lives. Yet today’s world no longer offers us that possibility: it’s difficult to calmly envision a future 10 years from now. This lack of perspective makes such planning nearly impossible. The future becomes uncertain, closed off. And in the face of this, what do we do? Do we withdraw into ourselves, wait for life to come to us, or worry?
I hope that *Jour de fête* will open a breath of fresh air, allowing us to dream anew and regain the ability to take action in our own lives. I am convinced that sharing these dreams of the future together for the duration of a performance creates a breach in our lives.
