Amara Al Saadi met with students from Studio 8 at the École du Nord during a workshop spanning several weeks on personal and political narratives. From this workshop emerged a shared desire to continue the experience and to extend, alongside the director, a creative process that had left a deep impression on them.  

How do you take on a political subject and turn it into theater? How do you give a powerful voice to a story without sacrificing its fragility, its complexity, or its nuance? Building on these questions that run through Tamara Al Saadi’s work, the production explores what is told, what is passed on—but also what remains suppressed, silent, or unspoken.

Following the success at the Théâtre du Nord of Place and Istiqlal, Tamara Al Saadi invites illustrator and filmmaker Zaven Najjar to join the stage for a live drawing performance. Before the audience’s eyes, the drawing enters into a dialogue with the performers’ bodies and voices: it sketches what words cannot capture, makes silence visible, and brings images to life where language falls silent.

At the intersection of theater, storytelling, and the moving image, this collective creation invent a space where the intimate becomes political, and where the stage becomes the setting for a voice still searching for itself.
