Histoires de crevettes
Three hundred shrimp, embedded in the skin and lives of just as many humans, reenact the drama of everyday labor. With this show, the Dutch company Hotel Modern pushes the boundaries of inventiveness and imagination by examining our humanity through a magnifying glass, zooming in and out on the small theater of everyday life: funerals, childbirth, a bistro, a gas station, or a nightclub… Every setting is fair game, and every situation is depicted in miniature and filmed in real time. Blending live cinema, object theater, and live performance, *Histoires de crevettes* is an extraordinary experience. Through the lens of tiny pink crustaceans—which we’re more accustomed to eating than contemplating—we get a close-up look at the little trifles of our tragicomic lives as earthlings.
